Description

In Ghana, cocoa producers, artisanal small scale gold miners, and migrant workers—especially in rural communities—face persistent deficits in decent employment opportunities, adequate income, and financial inclusion. These vulnerabilities are exacerbated by informality, weak integration into formal markets, climate risks, and social protection gaps. Financial exclusion is both a symptom and a driver of these challenges. Without access to safe and affordable financial services, households are unable to build assets, cope with shocks, or invest in their livelihoods.

Digital savings solutions offer a transformative opportunity to address these risks by providing vulnerable households with a secure mechanism to accumulate funds, smooth income variability, and plan for essential expenses such as school fees, healthcare, or agricultural inputs.

The successful institutions will be required to conduct targeted rapid needs assessment,     Design and development of an innovative digital saving solution, develop a marketing strategy and roll-out plan, Awareness-raising materials, Digital saving (Minimum Viable Product): a solution ready to be offered to the targeted beneficiaries, and produce quarterly report on the solution's performance indicators, progress, challenges and learning.
